Thin to thick. Apply products from lightest consistency (toner) to heaviest (cream). Water-based before oil-based, always.
Low pH first. Acidic actives (vitamin C, AHA/BHA) go on clean skin before neutral-pH products so they can penetrate effectively.
Let actives dry. Wait 1–2 minutes after applying an active (retinol, vitamin C, acids) before the next step to avoid dilution and irritation.
Never mix retinol + vitamin C in the same session. Use vitamin C in the AM and retinol in the PM, or alternate nights. Combining them risks irritation and reduced efficacy.
SPF is always last (AM only). No exceptions. Sunscreen goes on after moisturizer and before makeup. Reapply every 2 hours when outdoors.
